Birkin

The Hermès Birkin bag is a highly coveted luxury handbag introduced by the French fashion house Hermès in 1984.‌

Its design was inspired by a conversation between British singer Jane Birkin and Hermès CEO Jean-Louis Dumas during a flight from Paris to London, where Birkin expressed the need for a practical yet stylish bag.‌

The bag, based on the Haute à Courroies (HAC) model, features rolled handles, a flap top, and a lock closure, crafted by skilled artisans who spend a minimum of 18 hours on each piece.‌

Available in sizes ranging from 25cm to 45cm and made from over 90 types of leather (including calf, crocodile, and ostrich), the Birkin is known for its exclusivity, often requiring a waiting list or prior purchase history to acquire.
